So now I finally found the posts again. Very impressive work.
I see that some of the concepts we discussed were used very effectively. After reading your report, I would add only the word "prototyping" to help describe the process you have followed.
When building the first of a new design or new model, it is standard practice to only have the up-front design go "so far," and then allow the mechanics/artisans/builders some freedom in revising or adapting as-needed. After a working model is finished, the next step will entail "reverse-engineering" where the working unit is used to document the design. After that, minor revisions of the design are updated and refined prior to creation of final documents intended to be used for mass production.

Mark,
ReplyDeleteTry something like the following. It was only $15 on-line and runs on 12VDC. You might look at the aquarium area of a pet supply store.
